Live Your Life

I just watched this video, called “The Amish Project,” and the simple truth of it I found rather inspiring. And I thought it was such an awesome thing that this guy did, that I wanted to share:

I really admire that he was able to eradicate all these technological “hindrances,” if I’m allowed to say, from his life. I just think that that is so awesome. So many people, myself included, just waste countless hours of their days doing mindless things like Facebooking and watching YouTube videos. There’s nothing wrong with doing these things as long as it’s in moderation. Yet, I know I can just waste my day away doing these things.

There’s so much out there in life to live and do which will never get done by planting your butt in front of a computer screen or being glued to your phone. I think it’s a bit of an inspiration that, I believe his name is Jake, was really willing to get out and live his life a bit more.My favorite part of the video was near the end when he says, “I know what you’re going to say, ‘but this is the world we live in.’ Well maybe it’s time we live in it?” It’s just so true.

Now I’m not going to up and quit everything like he did, nor do I think that I’m “addicted” to social networking/texting/etcetera, but I think I’m going to be a little bit more aware about how I conduct my time. Or at least I’m going to try.

Bit of a short blog, but just wanted to share this. :)

Note: I just created a Bloglovin’ account if you’d like to follow me. :)

  1. Wow, that’s very cool!
I too am guilty of wasting my day away in front of the computer. I really do want to live a more fulfilling life, though. I love traveling a lot, so I hope I can do that after college.
I’ve heard that Tumblr is very addicting. I’ve always been very curious about it, but in the end I really don’t want to be addicted to something else on the internet :P

  2. That’s awesome! I think more people should do that; I know I’m one of the people who spends a lot of time on the computer when I can be doing something else that’s more fulfilling.

Oh, I’ve been looking into getting a coin book. That’s cool. :D

  3. I don’t really waste my time on the internet since I have no time nor internet – joke! hardly any good internet. I wouldn’t be able to get rid of technology and I’m not exactly admiring the guy. I mean, who can survive without technology these days, and if you can, why would you choose to do so? I’m not saying waste away in front of Youtube but still some lights and heating isn’t bad.

Just because you use technology doesn’t mean you can’t go out and live life. I just think people should know self control.

Well I don’t have much technology anyway so I’m not the one to talk. I hardly ever text and rarely go on social networking or call people etc.

My mom doesn’t think that things would take me that long so in other worse I’m disorganized. I can’t stand messy rooms. I don’t have OCD or anything but I just like organization and neatness!

Ohh I heard about Dreamweaver. Isn’t it much easier to code the traditional way?

Ahhh I’m so jealous! I see the NaNoWriMo thing on your blog! I wish I could write a novel .. I have so many ideas but I’m so bad at writing!

  4. Hello, thanks for your comment

Can I just start off by saying… I love your website design, it’s so clean and navigable. Anyways…

That’s super cool. I’d aspire to live a life like that, but truthfully… I’d like to take advantage of the technologies we have today. Just letting that convenience and entertainment slip out of my hands would feel wasteful. But your right, I definitely need to be more careful about how much time I actually spend online or how much I actually rely on technology. :x

  5. I’m exactly in that boat – technology rules my life, sadly. But I do wish to live a fulfilling life! One day, when I get enough money, I wish to travel the world.

*stares at the NanoWrimo* You participated and won – congrats! I always want to participate but November is always the time that I have exams. But that’s a great feat that you’ve managed to do :) I’ve never gotten anywhere with my novels. Can I ask what yours is about? :D
